The ranges shown are typical all-in cycle costs for the metro area. Where a clinic has published its own prices, those specific figures are cited in the table; otherwise, the range is a metro-level estimate drawn from FertilityIQ and Cofertility regional data, not a price confirmed by the clinic itself. Consultations are usually quoted by each fertility clinic individually. These figures were last reviewed in April 2026. Always confirm with the clinic directly before relying on the numbers.
Know the state insurance mandate
Up to three retrievals are mandated for fertility coverage on fully insured large-group plans SB 729 (effective January 2026). IVF and family building for LGBTQ+ individuals are explicitly included. Medically necessary fertility preservation is also covered. The mandate does not directly cover elective social egg freezing, but employers can add it beyond the required baseline.[13]
SB 729 does not directly apply to self-funded ERISA plans. The mandate targets fully insured group plans, in which the insurer bears the risk. Such plans are regulated by the California Department of Insurance and also by the California Department of Managed Health Care.
What notes are specific to California?
Among US markets, California has one of the highest volumes for egg freezing. Many large tech employers like Google, Meta, Apple, and Salesforce are in the Bay Area, so a large portion of patients rely on employer fertility benefit platforms such as Carrot, Progyny, or Maven. Patients in Los Angeles occasionally go to San Diego to reduce costs.
California clinics such as CCRM, HRC, Spring Fertility, and Pacific Fertility Center have some of the most experienced published outcomes in the country. Network restrictions on participating clinics may apply if you use employer benefits. Confirm with the platform before booking an initial consultation.
Treat these as aggregate figures for orientation. What a clinic actually quotes you turns on your protocol, your dose, how often you are monitored, and any workup beforehand. Get it confirmed by the clinic and your insurer before you start.
